The short version01 A little about me
I’m Josh. I’ve spent my career helping people work with technology, first in Texas state government and, since 2007, in private equity.
These days, I manage day-to-day IT operations at Alpine Investors as part of the firm’s IT team. My work spans infrastructure, security, and support, including the less visible work of keeping systems maintained and useful.
I like understanding how things fit together. Just as importantly, I like helping the person on the other end of a problem.
02 The day-to-day
From infrastructure changes to complex support issues, the work calls for sound judgment, clear communication, and follow-through.
I think about good infrastructure a little like a well-made watch. You don’t keep checking its accuracy. You come to trust it.

Endpoint security, access controls, phishing awareness, backups, and recovery. The ongoing work that helps a team prepare for problems and respond when they happen.
Working alongside compliance colleagues to implement and maintain technical controls for requirements including Regulation S-P, CCPA, and GDPR.
Practical, attentive help for colleagues across roles and time zones. Listening carefully, explaining things clearly, and following through.

East Texas roots. San Francisco home.
The Inner Sunset, San Francisco.
I moved to San Francisco in 2007. Home is now the Inner Sunset, the often-foggy neighborhood just south of Golden Gate Park.
I’m the proud steward of a Victorian built here in 1904. Beyond the house, I try to be a good neighbor and support the community that makes this corner of the city feel like home.
